If you do the cooking in the house, then you know how important it is to have the right cookware. After my personal experience, I am of the opinion that All-Clad is probably the best brand for stainless steel cookware. They aren’t perfect, but they have a very nice selection of big collections that you can get at a good price, and the quality of their pots and pans is excellent. Of course, most stainless steel brands are better than the nonstick stuff that is quite popular nowadays, but I think All-Clad is particularly good. I’m going to explain my justification for that opinion and then I’m going to add some All-Clad cookware reviews. I want to provide some honest reviews of their collections so that other people can benefit from their cookware the way I have.
How I Learned To Cook
When I graduated from college, I had never cooked in my life. I just never needed to do it- either my parents cooked for me or I just ate in the cafeteria on campus. It was quite a shock when I got a job and moved into the city. I quickly learned that it would be way too expensive for me to eat out every day, so I would have to learn to cook. Luckily, I had a friend from college who was a great cook, so I got some advice from her and picked up a few pots and pans, along with other basic supplies. I followed food blogs to get simple recipes. It was hard at first, but I soon mastered the basic skills, and that opened up a lot of doors for me. Because of my late start, I still don’t really consider myself an expert or anything like that, but I can pretty much provide for myself. I have a good amount of variety in my diet and I am always willing to try new recipes when I find them.
The Importance of Good Tools
The first time I bought kitchenware, I just went with whatever was cheapest. I didn’t really know anything about cooking, so I figured that the expensive stuff was a waste of money and it was only worthwhile to spend money on good ingredients. Well, I was right about how important good ingredients are, but I later learned that having good cookware is just as important. The nonstick pots and pans I started out with always cooked food unevenly, and I was a little bit worried that the nonstick surface had some kind of harmful chemicals that my food was absorbing. I kept reading about how great stainless steel cookware was, so I decided to check it out.
It took some time to master cooking with stainless steel. It’s a pretty different approach compared to nonstick pans, because it takes time to heat up and you need to be more thoughtful about the cooking process. However, the end results are more than worth it. There is a lot of food that simply won’t turn out right without good stainless steel cookware. The extra expense and the time investment you need to make are well worth it if you are interested in taking your cooking to the next level.
I tried out a couple of different brands of stainless steel cookware when I was first starting out. I would just buy a simple skillet or similar basic pan from a brand, try it for a few weeks, and move on to the next brand. Based on this process and some All-Clad cookware reviews I read online, I eventually settled on All-Clad as my brand of choice. That’s when I started buying in bulk, grabbing big collections until I had a full set of All-Clad’s stainless steel line. I decided to go the extra mile and get several different sets from the company so that I could write up reviews of them. I want to share my experience with others and show them how much fun cooking can be.
All-Clad Master Chef 2 10-PieceThis big set lists for $799.99, although you can often find it on sale. It comes with an 8 inch fry pan, a 10 inch one, a 1.5 quart saucepan, a 3.5 inch saucepan, lids for the saucepans, a 3 quart saute pan with a lid, and an 8 quart stockpot with a lid. That’s enough to cook just about anything. All pans have an aluminum core for even cooking, and they’re all dishwasher safe. It’s the perfect set for someone who has decided to commit to stainless steel.
All-Clad Stainless Steel 5-Ply Bonded Cookware SetThis set lists for $1,425.00, and at first glance it looks a lot like the previous one. So what’s the difference? This is from All-Clad’s 5-Ply line. Each piece is made of five layers- three steel and two aluminum alternating layers that give it the ultimate in even heating. Unlike the first set, this one works perfectly on induction cooktops, in broilers, in the oven, and in freezers. It’s also dishwasher safe. This is the top of the line from All-Clad.
All-Clad Master Chef 2 7-PieceThis 7 piece set lists for $429.99. It’s a good introductory set. It comes with an 8 inch fry pan, a 1.5 quart covered saucepan, a 3 quart covered saute pan, and a 6 quart stockpot with cover. All items are 3-ply- they have two outer layers of stainless steel and an inner layer of aluminum. If you are interested in All-Clad but don’t want a full set yet, this is a good starter set. It has all the basics you need and if you find it on sale, it’s a great deal.
All-Clad Tri-Ply Bonded 5-Piece Cookware SetNow this is as basic as stainless steel sets get. It lists for $599.99, although you can pretty much always find it for less than that. it has a 10 inch fry pan, a 3 quart saucepan with a lid, and a 3 quart saute pan with lid. All items are 3-ply, so they offer excellent even heating and work on induction stoves. This set is a little more expensive than some other brands’ intro sets because of the 3-ply material, but the upgrade is worth it.
If you like the tri-ply material, then this is the set for you. At $1,100, it is a savings over the 5-ply 10 piece set. It comes with 8 and 10 inch fry pans, a 2 quart sauce pan and its lid, a 3 quart sauce pan and matching lid, a 3 quart saute pan with lid and an 8 quart stockpot and lid. It’s a comprehensive set that is a good compromise between the expensive 5-ply set and the basic 10 piece set.
